The Teaching of a 7 year Tribulation

Last updated on 07/13/2022

I believe that the majority of believers that hold to the 7 year tribulation have been taught this based on a misunderstanding of the 70 weeks of Daniel prophecy. I simply believe this prophecy has been fulfilled. Now could it be fulfilled again in the end times? Sure.

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.

1 Thessalonians 5

We are to be watchers, God gave us His word and prophecy in order to recognize when the time is neigh!

I believe we have a big clue to the length of time that the “Great Tribulation” will be. It came from the Messiah Himself. Not only will there be drinking, eating, and marriage, but we should see how the days add up, how long was Noah dealing with the tribulation of his time?

37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,

Matthew 24 NKJV

Messiah also says that the days will be shorter, people look at this in different ways and I don’t rule out other possibilities on how this could be fulfilled or interpreted. This verse is after He mentions Daniel the prophet…

22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

Matthew 24 NKJV

Taking this into consideration we can go back to the Book of Genesis to find clues to the length of time Noah had to bear tribulation, even though he was saved or passed over in the ark. This chart is from creation.com (source link)

Bible(Date on the lunar calendar) Events and activitiesLength of time mentionedRunning total of days
7:6–10Noah gathered the animals onto the Ark and waited.7 days0 days on board
7:11–16(2nd month, 17th day) Rain began to fall, so Noah entered the Ark with his family.Heavy rain for 40 days40 days on board the Ark
7:17–24The waters swelled on the earth until all of the mountains were covered and all the land creatures and people had died.150 days150 days on the Ark
8:1–4(7th month, 17th day) God sends a wind and stops the water and rain. The Ark runs aground at Ararat. The end of 150 days150 days (same as above)
8:5(10th month, 1st day) The waters keep receding and the mountain tops appear. No length of time mentioned220 days (29.53 x 8 – 16)
8:6 9Noah sent out a raven and then a dove, but both return to the Ark unsuccessful.40 days260 days
8:10–11Noah sends out the dove again and it brings back an olive branch.7 days later267 days
8:12Noah sent out the dove and it did not return to the Ark.7 days later274 days
8:13(1st month, 1st day) Noah removed the Ark’s covering and saw dry ground.No length of time mentioned309 days (29.53 x 11 – 16)
8:14–20(2nd month, 27th day) The earth had dried out sufficiently and Noah left the Ark with all of the animals. No length of time mentionedA total of 364 days on board (29.53 x 12 + 10)

Creation.com believes that the time was 1 year on the ark. Which most people agree that it was ATLEAST that long. However, many people believe it was just a little longer than that. At least 1 year and 1 week. Especially if you count the time he entered the ark.

Now what if we had another book to consider? Which came from the Ethiopian bible, the oldest bible in history? Wouldn’t we want to test what it says to the Book of Genesis? The verses and days in Jubilees line up with Genesis, the only thing that is different is the greater detail on the timing. It makes me wonder why the original bible contains this book, but people over time condensed the current bible down to what we have today. Compare these verses to Genesis by following along in your bible.

In the Book of Jubilees, he entered the ark:

23And he entered in the sixth (year) thereof, in the second month, on the new moon of the second month, till the sixteenth; and he entered, and all that we brought to him, into the ark, and the Lord closed it from without on the seventeenth evening.

Jubilees 5

Opened the ark:

31And the waters disappeared from above the earth in the fifth week in the seventh year thereof, and on the seventeenth day in the second month the earth was dry. 32And on the twenty-seventh thereof he opened the ark, and sent forth from it beasts, and cattle, and birds, and every moving thing.

Jubilees 5

Exited the ark:

1And on the new moon of the third month he went forth from the ark, and built an altar on that mountain.

Jubilees 6

Doing the math we see he entered on the 6th Year on the 1st day of the 2nd month. We see on the 7th year of the 2nd month he opened the door. This is 1 year of time calculated so far. We see that he does not exit until the 7th year on the 1st day of the 3rd month, one year later. which gives us 390 days or 1 year and 1 month, based on a 30 day lunar month.

390 days is interesting because it also lines up with Ezekiel!

For I have laid on you the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days; so you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

Ezekiel 4 NKJV

390 days is looking like a significant number for a end time period. Based on other findings throughout the website you can see how 390 day of tribulation would play out in 2025 with the Feast days added in:

I find it fascinating that a 390 day tribulation starting on 9/11/24 on the Gregorian calendar would end the day before the first day of Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles on 10/6/25, which would allow for a fulfillment of Messiah tabernacling with us as King!

But what about the 1260 days of beast rule and 1260 days of the two witnesses? Where in scripture does it say these days all fall into the timeframe of the Great Tribulation? These are just things that happen during the end times.

We also see a correlation with Noah and Revelation in regards to timeframe/days. There was 5 months/150 days of prevailing water during the flood and there is 5 months of torcher in Revelation.

“And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.”
‭‭‬‬

Genesis‬ ‭7:24‬ ‭NKJV

“And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭9:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So we are seeing a correlation between Noah and the End times with these two verses. They describe a time of tribulation that fits in a smaller period of time.

In conclusion, you should be open to a possibility of a shorter timeframe so that the second coming of Messiah doesn’t creep up on you like a thief in the night. Prepare your lamps and have enough oil for your lamps, you do not want to be one of the foolish virgins.

For the commandment is a lamp; and the Torah is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
