As such, Baruch pushed for a formal vote before the end of the year in the hopes that, even if it did not pass, it would demonstrate the unreasonableness of the Soviet Union’s objections to a proposal that would spare the world a nuclear arms race. The vote was held on December 30, with 10 of the UNAEC’s 12 members in favor, while the other two members (the Soviet Union and Poland) abstained. The vote required unanimity to pass. As such, the Polish and Soviet abstentions thwarted the adoption of the Baruch Plan.

I stumbled across this and though it was interesting that the plans to stop the nuclear arms race between the USA and Russia was started on the very day Trump was born. If you have read through this website you would already know the significance of this. Trump was always very interested in the nuclear arms race before he was even in politics. As noted in 1985 in the Manhattan Magazine:
Butkus was aware of Trump’s interest in what he called “The Subject”—i.e., the nuclear-arms race and the urgent need for a deal-maker such as himself to (literally) save the world from surefire annihilation.

After learning about this magazine article from 1985, I wanted to read it. I found it reposted partly down the page linked below. Go read it, to me this was a warning of what’s to come with Trump and nuclear issues.

Interestingly, the Baruch plan was mentioned in this article:
Many historians of the arms race argue that the United States and the Soviet Union missed an irretrievable opportunity to stop the arms race before it could begin back in 1946 when the Baruch Plan was rejected. Financier Bernard Baruch, you might recall, proposed that both superpowers place all atomic technology under the control of an international authority that would prohibit weapons development. Rejection of the Baruch Plan is regarded by many as one of the great Lost Opportunities in modern history.

I just find it interesting that the day Trump is born, the nuclear deal of modern history was destined to fail.
“What explanation do you find for the lack of action on nuclear arms spread?” I ask Trump”
Slate.com
“I’ll tell you why,” Trump says. “People just don’t believe the inevitable. You know, there’s a feeling that it’s always going to happen to the other guy.”
You might not see it now, but these statements are prophetic. Trump is trying to portray himself in this article as the guy that will bring peace, and save the world from nuclear destruction. I see this as a warning for the future, that it will eventually happen to us.
We also see that Trump failed to negotiate and renew the “New START” treaty with Russia before the end of his presidency.
Nuclear Arms Control, or a New Arms Race? Trump Seems Bent on the Latter.
According to the article above, Trump was more interested in testing the USA nuclear capability as a way to pressure Russia and China into new terms for a Trump deal.
Then on Friday night, May 22, The Washington Post revealed that senior Trump officials recently discussed the option of conducting the first U.S. nuclear test explosion in 28 years as a way to pressure the Russian and Chinese leaders to accept the U.S. terms.

Well Trump never negotiated a new deal with Russia or China, and he never negotiated or updated the “New START” treaty either. He left it for Biden to extend, leaving Trump’s signature and promise off the table allowing for a future problem to occur when Trump returns.
Further stated in the article, Trump’s team knew the treaty isn’t going to cover newer weapon technologies and still leaves a wide open door for Russia to attack with newer weapons.
Trump officials also say they are worried that several new types of Russian strategic nuclear weapons delivery systems may not be covered by New START. “They should simply wrap those programs up and discard them,” Billingslea told The Washington Times.

Looking at the “New START” treaty on the government website, you will find that NO inspections have been done since the start of Covid. I see this as an open door for Russia to take advantage of this time to build up its capabilities and attack. Its a farce and a scam to think signing a paper means anything.
INF Treaty

Trump removed the United States from the INF nuclear treaty with Russia.
Less than one year after President Donald Trump informally announced that the United States would withdraw from the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, the State Department announced on Aug. 2 that the move was officially complete. The treaty’s death leaves just the 2010 New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) in place to limit U.S. and Russian nuclear weapons deployments, and that pact is due to expire in February 2021.

Open Skies Treaty

We also see another Russia nuclear treaty cancelled by Trump.
The United States formally withdrew from the 1992 Open Skies Treaty on Nov. 22 despite domestic and international pressure to remain party to the accord, including from President-elect Joe Biden and numerous U.S. allies.

Iran Deal
“Trump Abandons Iran Nuclear Deal He Long Scorned” – Article
President Trump declared on Tuesday that he was withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, unraveling the signature foreign policy achievement of his predecessor Barack Obama, isolating the United States from its Western allies and sowing uncertainty before a risky nuclear negotiation with North Korea.
NYtimes.com
Is this not another warning of things to come? He made it seem as if he was pulling out for the better, but he really was making it easier for Iran to increase nuclear capability. Go research and read articles about this move, it made no sense.

North Korea
Continuing on with this theme, we see the fascination Trump had with North Korea, a country that wants nothing more than to be taken seriously as a nuclear entity.
Trump met with Kim Jung Un two times and no deal could be made. Even though N. Korea states they were willing to dismantle all nuclear facilities and give up on testing missiles, Trump wasn’t happy with a compromise. Trump wanted more, and gave up making any deal at all because he wanted all or nothing. Thus never solving the problem, it was a big ‘to do’ to pump up his ego and another ‘sign and wonder’ he performed in front of his supporters. It was all about the photo op and the headlines he knew he would make when he visited the “DMZ”.
But after Trump left his second summit with Kim, with North Korea no closer to denuclearizing, the U.S. president sought to underscore American military might in his remarks to the troops.

“America does not seek conflict, but if we are forced to defend ourselves, we will fight and we will win in an overwhelming fashion.”
Just another warning of what’s to come when he rises again, he is ready for war.
